  • Just realized that the comment feature here was requiring users to register. That must have been reset when i disabled a plugin. I changed it to allow anyone to comment.

  • 100 posts in 30 days!
    My first post:

    http://vocal.ly/p3

Too much? This is a link log too so that makes up the majority of posts. I see no reason to use a separate social bookmarks service when i can just categorize them here and work like Daring Fireball.
So in between long posts, you get to tap into my attention by seeing the links that i’ve visited and think are noteworthy (blogworthy?).

As for my longer posts, it’s obvious to me that I need to find my writing style and take more time constructing some posts as opposed to just writing like I think… in real-time. Though it is somewhat apropos :) Bear with me. I’m a rusty blogger who is used to being a blog commenter and tweet’r in recent years.

Let the centralization of scatterbrain continue….

  • thinking that a “bump post” blog feature would be good. especially in these real-times. prob a plugin for this.

  • I’ve been increasingly using this blog as a link log in between longer blog posts instead of a silent idle.
If the frequency of link posts is annoying, their are filtered RSS feeds clearly listed at the top of this site for links, macroblog (long posts), microblog (short posts), random (posts like this one), sull comments (re-posting comments i have left on other blogs), all posts and a all comments feed. each post also has its own comment feed. fyi.

  • thinking about what my next (macro)blog post should be. so many ideas and issues to sort through. and i’ve been sick all week and overworked. maybe a call-out for an rssCloud centric organized community-shared infrastructure for hosting tornadoes and cloud hubs. and a a directory of code (glue) and apps might be in order. i also wanted to write about multimedia ebooks/digital media packaging because its beenan interest of mine for over a decade. the new itunes LP features has rebooted that topic for me. until next time…. have a good weekend.

  • finally fixed the WP hack for making titles for links category link to the remote url and not my permalink (unless you click the star). sweet. this is link logging daring fireball style. and of course the fix was equivalent to ” is it plugged in? ” :/ what can i say, i’m a jaded geek this month.

  • I really need to get the Wordpress bookmarklet working with custom fields so I can force titles to link to the remote url instead of my permalink. Too busy to look into this issue but if anyone out there has custom fields working inside Press This, let me know. Thanks.

  • excuse some blog titles not linking properly. earlier, i was trying to get a sort of daring fireball effect for all the links i bookmark here. so i want the titles to link directly to the remote url, not my blog permalink. i can do this manually with a custom field but had problems getting the Press This bookmarklet to properly add the custom field :/ so as a result, i need to re-edit a template to fix links category blog titles until i can fix the problem.

  • i’m finding this p2 theme to be too buggy. aye. i go from a frustrating experience in google reader to a frustrating experinece in wordpress. you know the “press this” bookmarklet sucks, at least on mac firefox 3.5. this is why i write my own software. i dont like dealing with software that other people wrote. so now what i have to go report bugs somewhere on wordpress and/or fix it myself and hope that i dont override my fix with the next update?
wordpress might be a great app to a whole lot of people. and i give it a go every now and then. but each time i am reminded why i dont like using it.
you know what i enjoyed more? i recently installed Vanilla Forum over on my other site http://ogg.ly/gab. Had some bugs here and there but overall, it really is simple and easy….. the software gets out of my way. Vanilla2 is in dev too. http://vanilla2.com which i had installed and tested a little. i might have to revisit that. sheesh!

  • if this site continues to be a mix of micro and macro blog chunks and whatever falls in between, like this “random thought”, and with my RSS feed(s) being equipped with rssCloud and PubSubHubBub for faster near real-time delivery to subscribers (if i were to have subscribers ;) …. then i see my intimate twitter usage dropping rapidly and replaced with pointers back to here. Same philosophy i ‘ve had with video…. using youtube to post teasers to videos on your own site. It’s important to me right now. I’ve been lazy and gone with the flow of social appetizers. Got to get MY shit together again. Thats what this is. Excuse the disorderly river of thought but this is also a process of learning how to use WordPress again in an intelligent way that works for me.

  • ok, since i’ve talked about yourls so often, i’m going to install it now real quick. i already have a short url solution in place for content posted here on vocal.ly but i don’t have one in place for external urls. it’s not a priority but i’ll toss it in the mix just for fun. who knows, maybe a few peeps will use vocal.ly to make a short url. doubtful. but i will ;)
