The Object-Idea and the Companion Gesture as Love Button

But a social object on steroids i.e. an Object-Idea, is far more powerful.
Because it’s actually talking about stuff that actually matters to people. It’s not enough for people to like your product. For them to really LOVE it, somehow they’ve got to connect and empathize with the basic, primal human drives that compelled you create your product in the first place. The Purpose. The Idea. Otherwise you’re just one more piece of clutter to them.
This reminded me of my rating system on a site of mine from back in 2005/2006 before Youtube and during the early days of the Videoblogging boom. I recently tweeted about it:
We all know about Facebook “Like” or sometimes re-worded as “Recommend”. Wouldn’t a “Love” button add new value to social data crunchers? Like is so baseline. Love is meaningful. Else, logging when a user visits something and leaves without further gesture (clicking like or love or share buttons is also useful data for the algorithms of our time.
